These are really neat cufflinks that are sure to get attention – not only for their uniqueness (and they certainly are that), but also for the fact that they happen to be genuine 1936 issue Buffalo Nickels, which are still in really great shape 73 years from the date of their minting. Of course there is no guarantee the gold setting is as old as the coins, but I do know they are quite old as they were purchased brand new by my late father-in-law when he was still a very young man. As he was born in 1923, it is quite probable the cufflinks themselves are over 60 years old. I do not know for certain whether they are gold-plated or just gold colored, (I doubt they are solid gold as there is no mark) but since gold does not tarnish and brass does, and since these are actually fairly shiny, I think it is reasonable to assume they are gold-plated or gold-filled. NO promises or guarantees however. Just think of these as really neat vintage jewelry - not an investment in gold! At any rate, they are in very good shape and may only need a bit of polish to make them gleam like new.
